Community Action Agency administers emergency and crisis intervention services to assist low-income people out of poverty conditions. Services include food pantries, farmers markets, food production support services, weatherization, housing down payment loans/grants, electric, gas, heating fuel and water assistance, ex-offender reentry program, GED/High School equivalency test instruction, school supplies, certified application counselor program, job readiness, case/care management, leadership development, life skills education, youth enrichment programs, anger management, substance use disorder education/prevention, individual development accounts, extreme weather centers and post disaster cash grants.

- Anger Management: Offers a 12 session anger management program modeled after a cognitive behavioral approach designed by the US Department of Health and Human Services. These classes provide personal insight into aggressive behavior and give people tools to implement effective methods of addressing and managing anger. - Women’s Anger Management Educational Classes: Provides an eight-session anger management program which provides personal insight into aggressive behavior and implement effective methods of addressing and managing anger. A certificate is issued upon completion.

            Description

            Prisoner Reentry Program: Individuals enrolled in program will receive an intake to assess their needs, case manager will assist with both internal and external referrals to help meet those needs, and individuals receive incentives and free materials to help with their transition throughout the program. Makin' It Work: Curriculum is taught to offenders in the St. Louis County Justice Center, the program deals with various issues including anger management, thinking traps, employer expectations and conflict resolution. Upon release, clients are referred to take advantage of CAASTLC’s anger management, drug counseling, employment readiness programs, and counseling services at the agency.

                      The Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program of Seeds of Hope Farm Project: Puts fresh, healthy foods in the hands of low-income families.                                                   Youth Development Program (e.g. Youth Case Management): Offers classroom presentations, one-on-one mentoring, family meetings, school communication, home visits (as needed), discuss peer pressure, relationships, and positive communication skills.
