Description

Providing window air conditioners to qualifying households.

Required Documents

- Each household member must provide gross income documentation for entire household/family for the last past 90 days - Applicant must present a Picture ID when picking up the AC unit - Each household/individual must complete an intake form - Social Security Cards for every household member - If under 60 years of age must provide a letter from the applicant's doctor containing a specific ailment a household member is suffering from or have children ages 0-5 years in the household regardless of existing medical condition, may include asthma, COPD, emphysema, coronary disease and immediate terminal illness - Each household must provide a current copy of their utility bill to prove they have utilities, and do not have a back bill and are not in threat of disconnection, utility bill must be less than $500.00

Eligibility

- Households that have received an air conditioner in the last three years are not eligible - Eligible households must be at or below 125% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines - Must reside in Madison County, Illinois - Household must contain a member who is 60 years and older, contain a child ages 0-5 years or contain a member who suffers from a medical condition that can be relieved by air conditioning - Low-income families and veterans who qualify for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program - Current utility bill must not exceed $500.00 - Only the person who made the application will be allowed to pick up their AC unit

      LIHEAP: Beginning October 1, elderly, age 60 years and older and/or disabled household member, who may also be disconnected or under imminent threat to be disconnected from their electric service may apply for assistance - Beginning November 1, households with children under the age of six years and households who are disconnected or have a disconnected notice from their electric service may apply for assistance - General public can apply for assistance starting December 1 through May 31, or until funds are depleted whichever comes first

                    Description

                    Offering scholarships to low-income students planning to attend college next fall. Awards will be disbursed directly to the college in two $750 increments at the start of each semester.

                    The Community Services Block Grant program will select 14 students to receive a $1,500.00 scholarship for the 2018-2019 school year

                    - Candidate’s entire household for those age 18 years must provide proof of gross income for the last 90 days, along with verification documents such as check stubs or printouts of income statements - Candidates are required to submit a copy of college transcripts, or if just entering college, high school transcripts - Candidates are required to submit a letter of recommendation from a high school or college official at the institution they are attending or will be attending. Letters of recommendation must be submitted on official letterhead - Candidates must submit a one-page essay describing themselves, their college plans, and career goals. The essays should communicate something that is not stated in the application, which sets apart their scholarship application from others - Previous scholarship recipients may apply for the scholarship again
