    A registered birth certificate (for new kindergarten and first grade students), proof of a comprehensive vision exam performed by an optometrist or physician (for new kindergarten and first grade students), a recent physical examination (within the last 12 months), shot record, last grade card (if applicable), a transfer sheet (if provided),

    Eligibility

    Kindergarten through sixth grade students who live on Ft. Leonard Wood within each schools area. A child is eligible for admission to kindergarten if the child reaches the age of five before the first day of August 2009 or if the child is a military dependent who has successfully completed a (state) accredited prekindergarten program or has attended a (state) accredited kindergarten program in another state. To be eligible to enter first grade, children must reach the age of six prior to August 1, 2009, or if the child is a military dependent who has successfully completed a (state) accredited kindergarten program in another state. Any child who successfully completed kindergarten in an out-of-state school accredited by the state, or a Missouri accredited urban or metropolitan school, will meet age requirements for entrance into grade one.         Description

        The LEAP program is a pull-out program. Children who meet the criteria and admitted to the program attend the LEAP Classroom one day a week.

        Hours

        Same as regular school hours. The day of the week varies by grade and by year. Call primary school for information regarding when that grade's LEAP class is offered.

        Required Documents

        Standardized Test Scores, individual intelligence test scores, and documented evidence of outstanding perfomance. Guidance counselor can provide testing if tests have not been administered already.

        Eligibility

        Scores on an individual intelligence test at or above the 96th percentile. Scores on a standardized achievement test composite at or above the 95th percentile. On tests which have no composite, the percentile average of the major batteries' ranks is used as long as the area score(s) of Language Arts/Reading is (are) not below the 90th percentile rank. Nominations are supported by documented evidence of outstanding performance by persons from two or more of the following groups: teachers, other school personnel, external professionals who are experts in the program area, peers, and parents. Referrals can be made by parents, educators, and students themselves. Ages 5 to 12 years old. Gifted Education continues 14 to 18 years old.

            Description

            The Smile Mobile is a free dental service that travels to schools in the Waynesville School District and offers dental care to those who meet income guidelines. The Smile Mobile stops at Wood Elementary and East Elementary Schools and eligible students from Partridge, Pick and Thayer are bused to Wood to utilize the service, while eligible Freedom students are bused to East.
