Programs that help people file appeals with the appropriate tax authorities and/or represent them in appeals hearings in situations where they disagree with a decision by a tax examiner regarding the assessment of business taxes, personal income taxes, bank and corporate taxes, sales taxes, property taxes or other taxes, their eligibility for special tax credits or exemptions, or the administration of tax rebate programs.
Tax Audit Preparation Assistance
Programs that provide information and guidance and/or formal representation for people who have been notified by the tax authorities that an audit of their tax returns is being conducted.
Programs that provide advocacy services for people who have an ongoing tax issue with the IRS or other tax collection agencies that they have been unable to resolve through normal procedures. Included are agencies within the IRS or other tax collection agencies tasked with this responsibility and independent organizations that offer this form of assistance.
