Description

This is a membership based program that provides minor home repair and chores, computer trouble shooting, an annual home safety assessment, information and referral and social and educational opportunities to help older adults maintain their independence at home. Minor home repairs include fixing toilets, replacing thermostats, cleaning dryer vents, adding weather stripping, cleaning gutters, replacing batteries in smoke detectors, and installing grab bars or handrails.

M-F 8am-5pm. Available for emergencies on nights and weekends.

Sliding scale; monthly cost can range from $10-$90

Description

JET Express is a membership based volunteer driving program whose goal is to help older adults remain active and independent by accessing safe and reliable transportation with community volunteers. There is a 30-mile round trip limit, beginning from the driver's home. Riders can receive up to two rides per week.

Eligibility

Riders need to be 60 years of age and older, be without readily available transportation, and be non-wheelchair bound (if the rider can get into the car and have their wheelchair put into the trunk, that's acceptable).

Fees

Rides need to be purchased in advance; each ride is $5-15 each way. Riders can send in a check or pay by credit card.

DOES NOT OFFER ONE TIME ASSISTANCE, MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED TO ACCESS SERVICES. Program requires a membership; membership is free of charge but individuals need to call first to receive membership papers prior to accessing rides.
