Veterans One-Stop Shop

One of the goals of United Way 211 is to be the one-stop resource for Veterans in the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area. In this regard, United Way of Greater Kansas City has formed several focus areas in relation to the Veterans services in our community, including a Veterans Navigator, a hub for Veteran resources, and The Veterans Alliance.

Military & Veteran Resources

The Greater Kansas City metropolitan area is home to over 152,000 military Veterans. Just like the general population, Veterans sometimes need additional support from community organizations. With the multitude of services specifically for Veterans, it can be a winding road to find the right resource at the right time, and in the right place. United Way 211 has gathered a multitude of resources that are unique to Veterans and their specific concerns and needs. Check out those resources here in our online database or call 211.

Potential resources include:
Veterans Benefits Assistance
Homeless Assistance
Medical & Dental Care
Financial Assistance

Employment Programs
Transportation

Service that are available to everyone include:
Food
Utility Assistance

Prescriptions Assistance
And much more

Veterans Alliance

Our community works very hard to provide an inter-laced system of support for our local military Veterans. Opportunities to provide new support or improve existing support systems are always growing. The needs of our Veteran population are always changing, as well.

Formed in 2013, the Veterans Alliance brings together more than 100 organizations which provide a variety of programs for veterans. The Alliance meeting is convened by United Way on a quarterly basis throughout the year. The Alliance, which includes government agencies, non-profit organizations, educational institutions and representatives from area businesses, constantly works to identify gaps in services for veterans in Greater Kansas City and develop a more comprehensive, integrated network between these organizations.

Military & Veteran Mental Health
