Description
Assists participants with Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes to pass the HiSET (High School Equivalency Test), a series of five tests covering writing, science, math, literature and the arts, and social studies. These tests require the test taker to apply reading, math, language, and critical thinking skills. The participant and coach work in the community either at a HiSET class site or another location, depending on the participant goals.

People First of St. Louis: Participants with developmental disabilities learn what their rights are, how to access services and information in the government/community and how to be strong self-advocates. DeafWay Interpreting Services: Provides sign language interpreters, and communication development specialist. Interpreters are qualified to interpret in any situation for any Deaf person regardless of their language preference. Each advanced or master-level certified interpreter is licensed in both Missouri and Illinois. Language modes available include American Sign Language (ASL), Pidgin Signed English (PSE), Conceptually Accurate Signed English (CASE), deaf/blind (tacticle interpreting for people with limited vision or totally blind) and oral interpreting. Video Remote Interpreting: Also offers interpretation services via video where people who are deaf or hard of hearing can communicate with a professional using a laptop, iPad or iPhone.
