Receives and administers block grants and other funds to facilitate the development and preservation of affordable housing, to aid in providing public services and facilities for low and moderate income citizens and assisting in the creation of employment and economic opportunities in Madison County, Illinois. Services include Weatherization Programs, Housing Down Payment Loans/Grants, Transitional Housing/Shelter, Air Conditioners, Fans, Electric Service Payment Assistance, Gas Service Payment Assistance, Heating Fuel Payment Assistance, Scholarships, Lead Abatement, Furnace Maintenance/Repair, Small Business Financing, Community Development Corporations and Regional Economic Development.

Description
Providing window air conditioner units to households consisting of senior citizens, individuals who are disabled and/or children age 5 and younger.

Required Documents
- Proof of income for entire household/family for the last past 30 days - Photo ID - Proof of Residency - Social Security Cards for every household member - Must provide a letter from the doctor containing a specific ailment a household member is suffering from of existing, or a medical condition such as asthma, COPD, emphysema, coronary disease and immediate terminal illness - Each household must provide a current copy of their utility bill to prove they have utilities, and do not have a back bill and are not in threat of disconnection, utility bill must be less than $600.00

- Households that have received an air conditioner in the last three years are not eligible - Eligible households must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines - Must reside in Madison County, Illinois - Household must a member who suffers from a medical condition that can be relieved by air conditioning - Low-income families and veterans who qualify for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program - Current utility bill must not exceed $600.00 - Must have income

Offering scholarships to low-income students planning to attend college next fall. Awards will be disbursed directly to the college in two $2,000 increments at the start of each semester.
