Description:
The Habitat KC model provides zero!interest mortgages on decent homes to low!medium income families. Qualified families must have 1) a need for shelter, 2)income within the 30!80% range of Area Medium Income and 3)a willingness to partner with Habitat KC by completing 300 hours of sweat equity. These hours are completed through volunteerism and homeowner education classes. The Home Preservation program also provides exterior weatherization services to improve energy efficiency. Community financial education is available as well as home ownership education.

Habitat for Human can provide minor home repair for those in the community. Assistance may include such things as fixing leaky pipes and faucets; clearing clogged drains; replacing broken switches, sockets and electrical fixtures; changing light bulbs; fixing or replacing door locks and handles; replacing broken screen doors or window panes; installing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and changing batteries; making minor repairs on stair treads; replacing carpet threshold strips; and replacing furnace filters.
