Programs that provide legal assistance which relates to the ownership, operation, manufacture, maintenance and use of aircraft, airports and airspace. Aviation lawyers represent a wide variety of clients in regulatory, enforcement, legislative, administrative, transactional (commercial) or liability matters; work with an administrative body such as the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration; or represent members of the flying public who may be plaintiffs involved in civil litigation. Clients may be aircraft or aircraft component manufacturers, established airlines, new entrants, cargo carriers, air freight forwarders, flight schools, private pilots, repair stations and other organizations that are part of the aviation industry. Specific issues include licensing and certification, flight operations, airline alliances, noise regulation, pricing, code sharing, route authority, airport access, air safety, purchases of an aviation-related entity such as an airline or charter operation, contract negotiation (e.g., modification, maintenance and repair), airport operations and litigation arising from situations as varied as air crashes and lost baggage claims.
